Sawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine is a weekly, comedic medical podcast hosted by Dr. Sydnee McElroy and her husband, Justin McElroy. The show is currently part of the Maximum Fun Network and comes out every Tuesday.
In each episode, Sydnee discusses an element of medicine, with Justin providing a comedic foil. The show normally focuses on antiquated medical practices, but sometimes centers on current events or the hosts' personal history. Each episode begins with a disclaimer read by Clint McElroy and then ends with the reminder, "Don't drill a hole in your head."
A book adaptation of the podcast, The Sawbones Book: The Horrifying, Hilarious Road To Modern Medicine, was published in October 2018. It was written by Sydnee and Justin, and illustrated by Sydnee's sibling Teylor Smirl. The first edition of the book was riddled with issues due to publisher error, later rectified in the paperback version (published December 29, 2020).[1]
